Breast Reduction for Men (Gynecomastia)

Breast Reduction for Men Information, Before and After Photos, & Surgery.

Gynecomastia or male breast enlargement affects a large percentage of men and can begin as early as puberty. It is a poorly understood condition that can be caused by genetic factors, increased weight or obesity, the use of anabolic steroids or marijuana, excessive alcohol use, etc. Fortunately, the surgery to correct gynecomastia is short, simple and nearly “scar-free”.

In some cases, liposuction alone can remove the excessive deposits of fat or glandular tissue and can be done through a tiny incision in the border of the areola. More commonly, it is necessary to make a small, inconspicuous incision at the lower border of the areola through which the dense, fibrous glandular tissue can be excised directly followed by liposuction to sculpt the shape of the chest. With the excess tissue removed, patients are advised to massage their chests and wear compressive garments on their chest for several weeks to assist with contraction of the tissues. Most men can get back to work within several days and back to the gym within two weeks.
