Labioplasty (Vaginal Rejuvenation)
Cosmetic surgery of the female genitalia is a rapidly expanding field as women become increasingly comfortable addressing their concerns about this very personal part of their body. No longer do women have to be embarrassed or feel discomfort from genitalia that have an undesirable size, shape or appearance.
Labioplasty usually involves reduction of the labia minora and the clitoral hood to restore the normal appearance of the area. The surgery removes all excessive tissue and bulges while preserving normal sensation and pigmentation, and is performed with minimal scarring. The surgery usually lasts approximately one hour and can be performed under local anesthesia with intravenous sedation or general anesthesia in the privacy of our office. A prominent mons pubis or labia majora can also be corrected during this procedure.
Postoperative care and pain is minimal with patients returning to normal activities within several days. Patients may return to sexual activities after four weeks. This simple, quick procedure restores a woman’s self-esteem, allows her to wear tight fitting clothing comfortably and to enjoy sex more freely.
